March Update

Hey all! It’s been a while since the last update so here is what’s happening:

First of all, Mousou is back! After this incredibly long hiatus it will be going into it’s last part and the final chapter will release on April 12th. To build a tiny bit of buffer, we’ll take a break over the weekend again.

Other than that, most projects are going smoothly! Reiri is also coming closer to it’s end, Zombie 100 and Magical Girls are being released monthly even if we are sometimes a bit slow on Magical Girls. Sorry about that.

Living, Eating and Sleeping Together is a new fun series that we started recently. Progress on that isn’t as fast and consistent as we’d like it to be yet but we have high hopes that it’s getting there.

Now for the bad news:
Our scanlation of Battle in 5 Seconds is pretty much dead right now. We would like to continue it but right now the team isn’t feeling like working on it so no progress on new chapters is being made.
And then of course there are other projects that have been stuck for longer like 10k, Please Take my Brother Away and  Curiosity .

So yeah, overall we are doing great! Scanlation is still as fun as always once we get going with something, even if it takes us a bit of time recently to gather our motivation to start with something.
But the absolutely huge support we have received for Living, Eating and Sleeping Together, Magical Girl, Zombie 100 and yesterday Mousou has really given us back a lot of the momentum we were looking for.

With that being said: thank you all for your support and we will work hard to bring out releases in a timely fashion and also make sure they have the high quality that we want from our work.
Except for Zombie 100. That teams knows what they are.

And also a PSA: please stay safe during the Corona outbreak. Limit social contacts, wash your hands, don’t touch your face. Even if you won’t be affected much by the disease, you most likely will transfer it to someone who will be in danger of their life because of it. Breaking the exponential growth of infections only works if all of us practice disciple and solidarity.
Take care!

‘Tis the Season

As you might have noticed our releases have slowed down a bit lately. My Alien Days should have been a weekly release for example but we skipped the releases for the past 2 weeks. Other projects that we haven been working on are also a bit stalled.

This has a very simple explanation: Exams.

Right now Helvetica and the scanlation scene in general is in a bit of a lockdown until this blows over. We’ll try to release what we can release and of course Kyuu isn’t going anywhere but for some other things we’ve been working on you’ll need to wait a tiny bit. Rest assured that nothing is dropped, all projects are staffed better than ever and we are hopeful to release quite a few things more steadily in the future. In addition to that, we are planning on releasing 2 new projects once they are ready. Of course this won’t harm our other projects since the people working on them were free anyway.

Have a great day!

Something Ends, Something Begins

Yesterday we released the last chapter of Kumika no Mikaku. It was a fantastic journey and I want to again thank the whole team and the readers for being there for the ride.

Meanwhile we are already ready to jump on the next thing. The author of Kumika recently started a new series, “Looking up to Magical Girls”, of which we released the first chapter today.
Sadly the Japanese release schedule for it is really bad. It only comes out once every two months. So while this sucks for us the readers, it at least means that it won’t drain any resources from us.

In other news: Mousou is of course still on hiatus, Kyuu-chan volume extras should be coming up in the near future, Battle in 5 Seconds is taking a bit longer to release right now than we would like it to but we are trying to get back to a faster schedule again. On top of that, we are planning to start the webcomic chapters of My Alien Days on May 5th.

I think that should be all. Have a great day!

Reverting the Rebranding

+++Announcement 2+++

Well… judging from the upvotes the Kings Viking chapter got, people apparently didn’t agree with the path we chose so we’ll revert to what we did before.

Picking up niche daily 4-komas and sometimes releasing chapters or whatever.

Bentoki is fired again. Please direct your “When is Mousou coming back?” questions to me again. I will reply with an appropriate :fuckTwi4: emoji.

+++ Announcement +++

After we dropped Grand Blue Dreaming more than one year ago a lot of people on our public Discord were probably thinking “well shit, what else do they even work on?”. In the internet wide confusion that followed us listening to our hearts and being worried about big daddy Kodansha coming in to wreck our little makeshift website, a lot of people looked for a new Helvetica series to be excited about. After considering all possible options, manga readers only had one valid choice that could be considered Helvetica’s new flagship series.

Support for it grew explosively and every new chapter is gathering more fans worldwide, gasping while clicking the pages to see what comes next and shivering in excitement for the next chapter to release.
Sadly, due to certain staff members being thrown into jail for possession of underage pornography, lately progress on this masterpiece has come to a halt. Petitions have started to form, demanding a return of steady releases and an anime adaptation by Kyoto Animation, directed by Naoko Yamada. But to no avail.

Until now.

Dear readers, fans and friends. I am happy to announce that Helvetica will cease work on all other projects in order to focus 100% of our raw procrastination power on one project. After minutes of consideration, the team unanimously decided that the leadership of both this project and Helvetica as a whole should be given to our dear friend, colleague and typesetting wizard, Bentoki.

From now this group shall be called

I wholeheartedly want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support during this tumultuous time in our existence. I trust that our new Australian overlord will finally deliver what the people really want. Thank you.

February Update

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since the last update post and there are quite a few things to talk about, both good and bad.

Let’s start with the bad. A long time ago we started working on Souboutei Must Be Destroyed but due to various reasons we just weren’t able to make good progress on the scanlation of the series. Our translator for this series is very passionate about it and wants to work on it and release the series consistently. So if you are interested in taking over send us an email so that we can organize that. For us Souboutei is sadly dropped.

The other project that we’ll be saying goodbye to is our re-scanlation of Boku Girl. A few people in Helvetica were not happy with the existing scanlation of the end of this series and wanted to do it better. But similarly  to Souboutei, we were also not able to keep up consistent progress and since the project has been on a standstill for so long for us, we decided to call it a day and discontinue the project.

In terms of our daily 4-koma things are also not looking fantastically. The Japanese release of Mousou Telepathy is still on hiatus and we don’t know a return date. Wonder Cat Kyuu-chan is also on hiatus but will probably return in early March.

Now to some good news. While we finally cleaned up and dropped the projects we had on a standstill, we were able to better organize and assign more people to other projects that were running but didn’t get the release consistency they deserved.

Kumika no Mikaku will now be released weekly and Battle in 5 Seconds After Meeting will change to a 4-day release schedule.

My Alien Days is still being released weekly by us but is approaching the end of the series that’s released as volumes. After the volumes are done we will start working on the web-chapters of the series but we still have to decide on the release schedule for that.

We were also able to release a new chapter for Curiosity Killed the Schoolgirl. This project was on hiatus for us due to our translator for it vanishing. Quothen translated a chapter for it in his free time but that still means that we’ll need a new translator for it if we want to keep working on it. If you are a translator or if you know anyone who would be interested, hit us up.

Kalyx is sadly still on hiatus for us since we don’t have the team to work on it at the current moment. But we would still like to continue and finish the series in the future.

That should be it in terms of series updates. Overall I’d draw a very positive conclusion for the status of Helvetica. We finally decided to cut series that just weren’t working out for us and focusing more on series that just needed a little push in order to release steadily. In 2019 we are finally looking forward to finishing some projects and continuing this process of consolidating work effort on projects that need it and then of course also pick up new project depending on the free staff that we have.

Have a great day!

Happy New Year and Mousou Update

Yesterday was New Year’s Eve and we also released the last Mousou chapter we still had saved up. The Japanese release will be on hiatus until the 9th of January, so not too long.

In other news: we started a new Project!
Reiri Synopsis:
In the Sengoku Period (1579), there is a young woman who has lost everything, and dedicated herself to seeking strength and a death on the battlefield. Reiri once lived happily with her family, until the day soldiers came by after a battle. Her father, mother and brother sacrificed themselves in order for her to survive. She was only saved with the intervention of Okabe Tanpa no Kami, who had been sheltering in the village. In his service, she grew and learned to fight well, chasing her goal of a death in battle. However, her path to death may not be as short and straight as she hopes…

I think that’s all for now. Sorry about being rather short on words but last night drained me.

Again, Happy New Year!

Mousou Telepathy Update

Since two days the Japanese publication of Mousou Telepathy has resumed and we are back to releasing it at the usual release time.

Until now we have been releasing the chapter on the same day it came out in Japan but in order to work on Mousou without losing our minds we’ll need to built up a bit of buffer. We’ll do this by not releasing chapters on the next two weekends. On all other days you should expect a new Mousou chapters at 6pm CET. (Whatever that is in your time zone.)

November Update

This post is just called “November Update” since there is no specific reason for it besides it being a few general updates on what’s happening in the Helvetica manga mines.

First and foremost, yes, Mousou Telepathy is still on hiatus. We haven’t dropped it but there simply haven’t been any new Japanese chapters for a few months now. All we can do is hope and wait.

But besides Mousou, we are doing really well again.
Kings’ Viking and Ten Thousand Kinds of Love are finally back from the dead and releasing again, My Alien Days and Battle in 5 Seconds are both being done fully weekly now. Sadly we are not able to make Kumika no Mikaku bi-weekly but we are doing our best to release chapters as fast as we can. The series has been pretty cursed in terms of staff availability but we are of course planning on finishing the series with consistent releases.

That should be everything for now.
Maybe a small reminder that there is a link to our Discord server on the right side of this page. We are always happy to see new people to talk with there. Also you can yell at us why your favorite series isn’t releasing/releasing so slowly.

Have a great day!
